GRAPE presentation redux

Marketing Trends and the Senior Living IndustryFollowing on from the demand created by my last presentation on marketing trends I've been asked once again to present to the Greater Rochester Area Partnership for the Elderly this coming Wednesday. The topic of my talk will be marketing trends and their affects on the senior living industry. I'll cover the newer channels being used by the customers or guardians of the elderly (and increasingly the consumers or end users of elderly services themselves), how to help innovate both your message and channel, and what metrics you might use to guage success. Last time I presented this work I scared many people. I suspect many of the same will be back to hear again what I have to say about innovating this important industry. Join us at 8am, Wednesday 21st January at the Cloverwood complex. Event details here.

If it’s about time for the Pope – where is YOUR youtube channel?

Yada yada yada the Pope also wears PradaSo, its about time. The Pope has recently announced a Vatican YouTube channel where you can follow his latest musings. This led me to think, if its about time for the Pope why arent more individuals and especially corporations using YouTube as a mouth piece for its innovations, new items and general addresses? Far too often I come across representatives that dont see the point of YouTube. Interestingly they DO see the point of general TV advertising. Amusing when one considers the lack of a targeted audience that you get with general TV broadcasting. Even more amused am I when I learn just how much companies spend on production costs and advertising on TV. Some great examples out there on how to do it from the most excellent 'Will it blend?' series to the 'Winds of Change' Kodak videos that quickly went viral. One of the first steps of any campaign though is thinking through the purpose of your actions. When I sit with clients and talk about the opportunities that internet TV has it's very easy to come up with the ideas. Annual meetings, social events, training events, introductions, aspects of customer service the list is potentially endless. And yes – there is of course a Neil Hair channel on YouTube. Heres one of Neil with one of his latest gadgets. I have plenty of ideas on how to populate and popularize your channel. More on that in another post.
