RIT Saunders College of Business - New Video - Approaches to Learning

Recently a team of us put together a promotional video looking at experiential approaches to learning. The ten minute video explores the use of clients and student and client perceptions of effectiveness. Let me have your thoughts!

    Great Stuff!

I am going through the college selection process with my daughters and I can tell you that this is the type of material that really helps. It allows the students to see “themselves” making it happen. The students did a fantastic job in this video.

If I put myself in my former role as potential employer of RIT grads I am also very impressed. Whether looking for people for co-ops or full time I would be positively impacted by this video.

Finally in my current role as RIT lecturer I am quite proud of this as a representation of our product.

    Great job to all.

I believe this video says it all. After having the opportunity to be involved with various types of experiential learning at RIT, I’ve realized it’s the most valuable way to learn something. Theory isn’t enough anymore, applicative knowledge is the variable that is going to make RIT graduates very marketable.

Great job with the video! If there is a way to say all of this in 1-2 minutes, it would be a great clip to put on the ritmba.com site. Check out eclips.cornell.edu, they do something similar.

    Long time no talk, Neil.

Nice video. I second Prof. Ward’s and Melanie’s comments. It plays well on both sides (potential students as well as employers), and as an alum now in the “real world” for more than 2 years, I definitely see the value of experiential learning (in both the classroom and co-ops) and everything I learned at RIT.

To add to Melanie’s comment, a 1-2 minute video could give a snapshot that leads into this more in-depth view. If someone leaves the video 4-5 minutes through, he could miss the employer’s testimonial — to me, a key endorsement and selling point.

Overall, this is a great way to go beyond brochures / static content (traditional “push” tactics) and really start an engaging “conversation” with potential students.

As one of the students in the video (though not interviewed), I particular enjoy this. In addition, having the client that I worked with say such amazing things about our group is an honor. I look forward to being able to show this video to prospective employers to give them an example of exactly what I worked with during my time at Saunders, as I think this could help differentiate me from students who attended other colleges.
