Mac finally starts to fight - effectively

Not for meThose of you that know me appreciate my healthy skepticism for all things Macintosh. They look nice and for some, they play nice too. Not for me. However, their latest ad campaign IS for me. It's one of the most effective I've seen in quite some time and for those of you not in the States it could probably be best described as 'gloves off' time over in Mac HQ. The message is simple, things are easier with a Mac then they are on a pc. Several ads are running on various media platforms identifying several weaknesses of the PC (such as drivers install for new devices, the lack of viruses and so on). Begs the question how will PC advocates respond? What I like about it is its simplicity, its not aggressive and its messages are crystal. In all rather convincing it must be said.

Neil, would you happen to be referring to the “Hi, I’m a Mac / And I’m a PC” ads? If so, then the retaliation has already begun with spoofs being posted on YouTube. They may not be as professional, but I think they could have just as strong of an impact given the intense viral nature of YouTube and comedic videos in general.

    New site’s looking great!

Yes, those ads have really worked well for apple. But, I believe that the ad in which the mac says that he is both pc and mac is the best. And that they should promote that particular message more and discuss what boot camp does more openly.

One thing I am pondering over is how effective would bootcamp in forcing the change in people (to shift to MACs) who have been pc users for all this while.

Oh and prof. Neil - MACs can be configured to have 2-button mouse :-) . From what I remember, this was the main reason you preferred PCs over MACs

as well as Mac’s work the thing that hurts the most is the price.

its harder to get a wider deployment for a Mac platform because the price is prohibitive.

Here here Gaurav! I would love a dual booting Mac, but man they are a bit pricey.
